Hurricane Michael

Now that the storm is over and the area of impact has started
cleaning up and repairing their lives, Madison Ares has time
to assess what we were able to do to assist during the storm
and immediate aftermath.
This is our preliminary status with more information being
compiled.
Due to the extensive damage and lack of any support system,
Madison Ares decided that support from our base stations would
be valuable. We considered that our use of HF and VHF
connections could extend into the impacted area. We would
provide support for the Amateurs that were setting up at the
few available locations.
Hurricane Michael has been upgraded by the National Weather
Service to a Cat 5 on Landfall after an assessment of the
damage making it the only Cat 5 to hit the Florida Panhandle.
